Sam Lantern / Creating Window Cling Art / Bottle Lamp project

Read the entire article first and think ahead making sure you plan scale for the size of your recepticle,  be it a jar or a bottle.

Equipment

To make this bottle art here is what you will need:

Workspace

Prepare your workspace with all the equipment in handy reach before you start,  there can be nothing worse when sitting down to start knowing you forgot something.  Hydration is important so make sure you are all set.

Getting ready

Right click on the image below and choose save image and and save it to somewhere you can find it,  you can probably right click and print the image or saved file yourself and make sure you print a size that will fit the side of the bottle or jar,  use the measuring tape if needed.

Make sure your bottle or jar is clean inside,  dry and and free of any stickers, labels or glue on the outside that may affect the adherance of the cling. Goo Gone can be helpful in removing stubborn glue.

Getting Started

1. Place a clear acetate sheet over the printed picture
2. Using the black paint trace the thick black lines of the picture,  you hay want to avoid the shading areas or finer details,  dont worry if some of the black parts like the eyes are not connected to the rest,  we are going to transfer the cling to the side of the bottle in one go.
3. If you want to add finer detail or fill in colour you can but you may be limited to the amount of cling liquid you have,.
4. Place to dry until the liquid is tacky but not runny
5. Transfer the cling onto the bottle by rolling the bottle on the cling,  make sure you align it and all cling liquic is making a good contac t with the surface of the bottle
6. place the ellastic bands around the acetate and bottle and allow to dry further for about one hour
7. Gently peel of fthe acetate so that the window cling remains on the bottle
8. Add the LED lights innto the bottle and seal and turn on

An alternative method may be if using a jar to leave the clink on the acetate and simply insert it into the jar making sure to size it before hand and print the picture to fit.  The cling ink does degrade over time and can get hard and brittle so it may improve its longevity.

These Sensory Bottles with wide openings may work well if planning to out the acetate into the bottle.  With different coloured lights you could make lanterns for in a gazeebo for example.
